The sub-registrar office where the property is located. Stamp duty depends on the relationship and the property's market value.
Check the current fees and documents with the office before you go.
Enter your details, your attorney's, and the sale deed through which you own the property, with its document number, year and SRO.
Complete the schedule, boundaries and the Rule 3 market value statement, and attach a plan with the property marked in red.

The department's FAQ says a power of attorney to sell, develop or transfer immovable property in favour of someone other than listed family members attracts 1 percent stamp duty on the market value. For family members it lists a fixed duty of Rs.1000. Rates can change, so confirm them with the SRO before signing.
The department lists wife, husband, son, daughter, brother, sister, father and mother. It publishes a separate model form for a GPA to sell in favour of family members.
No. The department says it is wrong to treat a general power of attorney as transferring ownership. A buyer must get a sale deed registered.
A GPA ends on the death of the executant and can normally be cancelled by the principal at any time. But a power of attorney executed for consideration cannot be revoked unilaterally, and this model includes a clause declaring it is supported by consideration and revocable only through a civil court decree. Read that clause before signing.
Sign it before a notary public, an Indian consul or vice-consul or another authority listed in Section 33(1)(c) of the Registration Act. Stamp duty on a document executed abroad can be paid within three months of its receipt in India.
No. The department's model forms are a guide, and it takes no responsibility for their clauses. You may add, amend or delete clauses to suit your transaction.
